The desk is constructed of 3/4" birch plywood with solid maple trim used around the drawers. The countertops are 3/4" MDF covered with black laminate. Black vinyl T-molding was used on the exposed edges of the tops. The plywood edges of the shelves and carcasses were taped using birch veneer woodtape with heat-activated glue. The 1/4" plywood backs of the hutch units are covered in black contact paper while the area above the countertops is bulletin board material covered in black fabric, to accept pushpins.

 

The file cabinet has two drawers on extention slides and a bottom file drawer that rolls on wheels and can be taken to any part of the office. The distinctive round-nosed base unit was constructed by stacking two laminated tops on a laminated base with cross-sections of birch plywood sandwiched between the layers.

 

The center monitor cabinet top is fitted with a 12v spotlight, visible above. The keyboard sits on a retractable laminate surface fitted with special slides.
